The center is the lightest and as it goes farther out the water gets a darker shade. The piece uses a variety of different shades of color to create the water and the suns reflection. I needed light and dark shaded of both blue and green to create the water. Interpret: The idea behind my piece was a memory from scuba diving on vacation in Bonaire. I was inspired to paint this because the picture means a lot to me because it was during a special time with my family. Judge:

Leroy Nieman was an American Artist known for his colorful paintings of athletes and sporting events. Most of his popular work was done with pen and ink and watercolor paint. Leroy Neiman was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on June 8, 1921. Neiman served in WWII as aa cook and soon after he attended the Art Institute of Chicago and taught there a decade later.
